Many times I have heard myself telling me, only if this or that person had supported me, I would have made it through. It is said that the single most important thing which makes us what we are – is the “story we tell ourselves”.
So subconsciously I was peddling this story to myself about “feeling unsupported”. Then suddenly I woke up last week and said “f8ck support”, I need to do it all by myself, people will support me or not is their choice and their motivation might sometimes be not so clear.”
Change the story you tell yourself
So this is a short blog post. If you are telling yourself the same story of feeling “unsupported”, just get on with it, man. Let’s not count on anyone to cover your back.
If anyone decides to support you or not is their issue, not yours.
What are the other stories you tell yourself?
So the next task would be to identify what are the other stories we tell ourselves. Listening and making sense to the tape-recorded stories we tell ourselves about ourselves is a bit difficult. It feels like we are an actor caught in the story and no longer in control of our destiny.
